3.5 Ways to Be Your Massage Therapist’s Favorite

Have you ever wondered what it would take to be your massage therapist’s favorite client? What kind of person does a licensed massage therapist hope to see on their table? Well you’re in luck! Here are the secrets to make you a popular massage or facial guest. And—praise heaven!!—they’re easy as pie.

1 - If you’re sick, STAY HOME.

If you’re not feeling well, a massage will NOT make you feel better. (In fact, it might make you feel worse.) And being in a small, confined space with your therapist exposes them to whatever nastiness you’ve got. When a therapist gets sick we have to reschedule other clients’ appointments (this is NEVER fun), and your therapist misses out on the pay they would have received had they not fallen ill.

2 - Take a shower.

Common sense, right? You’d be surprised! Your massage therapist will need to be miiiighty close to give you an effective massage and THEY WILL SMELL YOU. We understand that a shower isn’t always feasible; even a sponge-bath is much appreciated (be sure to especially hit those pits and slits!).

And, girls, guess what? Your therapist doesn’t give a hoot if your legs are hairy!

2.5 - Pass on the scent.

This hot tip is subsidiary to taking a shower: Don’t smell bad, but also don’t smell too good! Several of our staff and many of our clients are sensitive to perfumes and strong scents, sometimes leading to headaches and asthma flare-ups.

3 - Tip generously.

Massage therapy is not for the faint of heart. Our therapists extend themselves physically and emotionally to provide the best services in the Raleigh area (and beyond!). A good rule of thumb is to leave 20% of regular price ($108 for a one-hour session; $158 for a one-and-a-half-hour session).

And there you have it, folks! Keep these words of wisdom in mind and your therapist will ALWAYS be happy to see you!

From prenatal to TMJ, Swedish to deep tissue, lymphatic to hot stone and cupping, White Dahlia is the place to come in Raleigh, NC for some TLC!
